In honor of Francisca Villalta, the Big Ass Cow and the Chota Cow are chosen

In rescue of the cultural heritage and traditions, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua organized the contest of the Vaca más Culona and the Vaca Chota, in homage to the traditionalist Francisca Villalta Lezama, better known as "La Chica Vaca".

The activity took place in Plaza La Soberanía and with local music, colors and dances, two categories for Children and Youth were chosen, taking into account clothing, utensils, years of participating in the tradition and popularity.

“We continue to celebrate the traditional festivities of our beautiful and beautiful Managua, with the election of the Chica Vaca and the Vaquita más Culona, this Chica Vaca represented in childhood and youth through her Vacas Chotas, taking into account their colorful, folkloric steps respected in homage to Doña Francisca Villalta Lezama”, informed Griselda Rivas, Director of Culture of the Municipality.

The winners in the Vaca Chota contest, in the children's category the first place went to Juan Gómez from the Los Angeles neighborhood, in the youth category it was won by María Auxiliadora González from the Los Angeles neighborhood; In the Vaca más Culona contest, the children's category was won by Josué Jarquín from the San José Oriental neighborhood and the young Keneth Marenco from the Rigoberto López Pérez neighborhood reached the youth category.
