Youth Games holds the first boxing evening of the year

The bell rang again in the Roger Deshon ring, on the afternoon of Friday, April 26, when the first boxing championship of the Managua 2024 Youth Games was held. This first boxing evening was organized by the municipality in coordination with Youth Affairs of the National Police, to also incorporate young people who are at risk, to the most anticipated games of the year.

“Young people from the different gyms and from all the districts have been present, we are working together with Youth Affairs of the National Police, which works hard with us, so that young people at risk have opportunities for those recreational spaces that are open for them, today we are going to have more than 10 fights in 10 different categories,” explained Noel González, Sports Director of the capital commune.

Currently in District III of the capital, Youth Affairs has organized more than 160 young people in different sports disciplines, who will be participating all year round in the competitions of the capital games, as confirmed by Captain Erick Velásquez of Youth Affairs.

“These recreational spaces allow us to improve the potential of our at-risk youth, who are in our districts, in some way through the discipline of boxing we try to reduce the rates of violence in the streets, drug consumption and other aspects that can harm youth, these spaces motivate them to continue practicing sports,” said Velásquez.

Throughout the year, 10 boxing cards will be held, with the aim of attracting the new promises of this sport and at the end of the year the 10 best boxers will be awarded.
