Athletes ready for the Managua 2024 Youth Games in its fourth edition

For more sport and new champions, the municipality inaugurated the Managua 2024 Youth Games on the afternoon of this Thursday, April 18, at the Paseo Xolotlán Beach Volleyball Courts.

More than 50 thousand young people will participate in this event, they will compete in 20 sports disciplines, throughout the year 2024, reported colleague Noel González, Sports Director of the capital commune.

“Really happy to inaugurate this fourth edition of the Managua 2024 Youth Games, these children range in age from 9 years to 29, all athletes and academies from the different disciplines of Managua participate, this is in conjunction with the Alexis Argüello Sports Movement , with the federations,” González reported.

Likewise, he highlighted that the Youth Games are a pioneering sports platform that contributes to the promotion of young talent in the capital, "practically these games have become a seedbed, we have had boys who have gone through the Youth Games and are now in organized baseball, in volleyball, in soccer and that these games have also become a sporting festival for Managuans, thanks to the opportunity and space for healthy recreation that the Good Government provides for all Nicaraguans.”

These athletes will compete in baseball, basketball, boxing, soccer, chess, field tennis, table tennis, cycling, canoeing, karate, taekwondo, judo, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, swimming, indoor soccer, among others.

“We recreate ourselves, it forms us as people, we have been competing to qualify and we are working hard,” said athlete Elmer Cárdenas.

During this edition, the two best athletes in each discipline of the Youth Games will be awarded, a man and a woman.
