Managua pays tribute to the birth of General José Dolores Estrada Vado

Through the Directorate of Historical Heritage, the municipality paid honor and glory on the morning of this Friday, March 15, to the 232nd anniversary of the birth of the General of Divisions, José Dolores Estrada Vado, at the monument located next to the Tiscapa overpass .

In this tribute, the Director of Historical Heritage of the municipality, Clemente Guido, reported that General Estrada was born in the 18th century and his heroic deed was carried out in the 19th century, we are in the 21st century and we still remember him.

"José Dolores Estrada we remember him not only for the Battle of San Jacinto, which was a heroic and historical event, we remember him with love because it was the defeat of the southern slavers of North America, defeated by Nicaraguans including 60 Indian arrows from Matagalpa, who also “They fought with rifles and defeated the filibusters,” said Guido.

The activity was attended by 40 students, who performed a dramatization of what happened at the Hacienda San Jacinto, highlighting the victorious Battle of San Jacinto, against the filibusters and the American adventurer William Walker, on September 14, 1856, in addition to members of the Nicaraguan Army Academy that bears his name and participation in the municipal band.

General José Dolores Estrada Vado, was born on March 16, 1792, in the Department of Nandaime and died of natural death in Managua on August 12, 1869, at the age of 77, holding the rank of General of Divisions and Chief of the Army. of Nicaragua, which had been awarded by the President of the Republic at that time, General Fernando Guzmán and declared National Hero by decree of the National Congress.

His legacy lives on in Nicaraguan families for being the greatest defender of the political constitution of Nicaragua and the democratic system, against any attempt to usurp the rights of the people.
