New Transfer Center for Solid Waste in the Domitila Lugo neighborhood

To respond to the garbage problem in the capital, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua enabled a new transfer center in the Domitila Lugo neighborhood of District IV, a space where 80 self-employed workers, who use handcarts and pull carts, by horses, they will be able to deposit and collect household garbage and tree pruning waste, as part of the service they provide to the community.

At the same time, 2-ton vans and trucks will be able to deposit waste, with the aim of avoiding the spread of micro dumps on the main roads and not being exposed to any fine, promoting recycling and caring for Mother Earth, he reported. Mayor Reyna Rueda Alvarado.

"The neighborhoods are really no longer the same, the cleanliness that we see in each one, we are advancing thanks to the awareness of the families, but also on the part of our Mayor's Office, the construction of these transfer stores that we have for solid waste, It is the third that we are delivering to our municipality, the first that we inaugurated in the Grenada neighborhood of District V, in Villa Vallarta of District VI and now in District IV,” shared the mayor of the capital.

Also, he explained that this transfer space has an area of 7,000 square meters, where a perimeter wall, two offices, a sanitary service, the installation of 4 solar lights and the asphalt coating of 715 square meters of street were built, which takes benefit to 120 thousand inhabitants, with an investment of 4 million 249 thousand 437 córdobas.

The self-employed workers were grateful for this new center, which will provide them with better working conditions, "it's good, because there is more space, because before we had difficulty in those, so they put trucks in and tried to hit the horses," said the protagonist Lourdes Rojas.

Simultaneously, the municipality, through the Environment Directorate, with the support of IPSA, gave talks to the workers on the good care of their horses, which received veterinary care with dewormers, vitamins and skin treatment, completely free, one more effort, as part of the Clean City, Capital of All Campaign.
