An intense day of sports took place at the España Sports Center on the morning of this Saturday, October 28, with the Taekwondo Championship, promoted by the municipality and as part of the 2023 Youth Games.

There were more than 10 academies from the seven districts that participated in this exciting meeting, divided into children's and cadets, with children aged from six to 13 years old, as reported by Noel González, Sports Director of the capital commune.

“There are more than 150 athletes that we have here, this allows us to continue developing this discipline, a sport that is combative and has given us a lot of glory at the international level and here are the future national teams that will be able to represent us at the international level,” González reported. .

At the same time, he highlighted that, thanks to the efforts made by the Good Government, many young people have represented Nicaragua, such is the case of the athlete Elián Ortega, who won a gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in the poomsae modality. putting the pine country on high.

The talented twelve-year-old athlete Milagro Gibarte, one of the first place winners in this event, motivated the teenagers to be part of this discipline.

“This is the sport that I love and I have given everything to be able to take first place, they always say that this sport is for men and that women cannot do it, but it is the opposite, women can win and I I am a clear example of that, this is my eighth medal and in the future I hope to represent my country in the Central American, Pan American or Caribbean games,” said Gibarte.
