The Mayor's Office of Managua, in coordination with the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports, held the first match of the Handball Championship on the morning of this Saturday, September 30, a sporting discipline that takes place in the 2023 Youth Games portfolio.
This edition “All against All” had the participation of 145 athletes from the different academies of Managua, Masaya and Granada, which were distributed into 10 teams and divided into 6 male and 4 female teams, between the ages of 15 to 22 years. .
Javier Hernández, President of the Nicaraguan Handball Federation, said that in this event first, second and third place are awarded, “there are some members who are from the national team who have been Central American champions and South American champions, this sport is growing. "Today we also have an event in Bluefields and Bilwi, from here the national team that will represent Nicaragua next year is drawn."
The athlete Jordi Torrez described this sporting discipline as a healthy recreation that avoids vices.
“I thank the Government for giving us the opportunity to have this beautiful sport, since it has helped us perform well and not be on drugs. I have been practicing this sport for four years, it is a good opportunity that helps us demonstrate all our talent. and I hope to win this competition with my teammates,” Torrez said.
