Youth Games 2023 brings together the best chess players in Managua

With the participation of more than 80 chess players from the different clubs, the first championship of the sport that demands the greatest attention and concentration of the mind when developing it began on the afternoon of this Friday, May 26.

Teams belonging to the academies of the Ciudad Sandino Mayor's Office, the American University, the Nicaraguan Defense University, and the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua participated in this meeting, as reported by the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales.

"It will last for the next 6 months, concluding at the end of the year, rewarding the best places in the different categories, medals will be awarded to first, second and third place," added Armas.

The categories are divided into infantile that goes from 7 to 12 years old and juvenile that goes from 13 years old and up.

During the activity, the participants showed self-control and concentration, in order to obtain a first place in this tournament.

"A game that allows me to work a lot on mental aspects, in the sense that through thinking I create different situations, thus developing creativity and that is the main reason why I like to play," said participant Carlos Alfaro .

The championship was held in Swiss mode, organized in 7 rounds where the time was 3 minutes and 2 seconds, starting from the first movement they made on the table.
