Commemorating the 114th anniversary of the birth of Blanca Arauz Palacios, the Mayor's Office of Managua, through the Directorate of Historical Heritage, organized the children's drawing contest "To the love of Sandino and Blanca Arauz for Nicaragua."
160 children from all districts of the capital participated in the contest, registrations were made for two weeks, as reported by Mayor Reyna Rueda Alvarado.
"The call for the contest was a success, we had 24 winners, the children overflowed with talent in each of these drawings, with this contest we promoted art, harmonious coexistence among the little artists, but above all we are promoting the legacy of our national heroes”, said Rueda.
The registrations for the contest and the drawings were made in the 8 municipal libraries, the municipality guaranteed all the necessary materials to the participants to make their small works of art.
Clemente Guido, Director of Historical Heritage, explained that the children invited have a vocation and artistic talent, the winners, in addition to receiving cash prizes, will be provided follow-up through their schools, so that they continue to develop their drawing and painting skills.
“They were told to make a drawing where they expressed what they feel for Sandino, for Blanca Arauz, they were asked to try to reflect what they know about our heroes, we do this type of contest so that the children feel that respect and love for national heroes”, assured Guido.
The winners of the contest received the cash prize, 500 córdobas for the first places, 400 for the second and 300 for the third place. The award ceremony was held on Thursday, May 25 at the Los Quinchos school, located in the San Judas neighborhood.
