Municipal authorities inaugurate the Youth Games in their third edition

On the night of this Friday, May 5, at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center, the Managua 2023 Youth Games were inaugurated, in its third edition.

The sporting event will last 8 months, where 100,000 young people of both sexes will participate, between the ages of 14 and 29, who will compete in 21 sports disciplines.

During the inauguration, the Mayor, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, highlighted the progress and development that the sport has had in Nicaragua since 2007.

"Sports in Nicaragua has been growing, thanks to the policies of our Good Government and sports infrastructures, we are happy to share the enthusiasm of all the young people who are going to be participating in this third edition of the Youth Games, a platform that It has given young people the opportunity to practice and grow in different disciplines,” said Rueda.

For his part, Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales shared with the protagonists of the event that the promotion of sports carried out by the central government is bearing fruit in the short term, because in the last international games the new generation of athletes has represented the country.

“They are sports massiveness at its best, thank God and the Nicaraguan government. We are going to have tournaments from May to December in handball, canoeing, chess, soccer, basketball, baseball and the academies are not far behind, thanks to these kids from the academies we won gold, silver and bronze medals in different disciplines in the recent Games of AlBA”, added Armas.
