In celebration of the third anniversary of the Chess Academy, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua, through the Sports Directorate, organized a National Tournament with the participation of 100 chess players from all over the country.
"A tournament that all universities, different schools and departments were invited to, is a 5-minute Blitz Finish tournament, we will be playing in 5 rounds and the first places in all categories will be awarded," said Nahúm Espinoza, coordinator of the Chess Academy.
The sports activity was carried out at the University of Technology and Commerce (UNITEC), being inaugurated by Dr. Alma Alicia Gutiérrez, rector of this alma mater.
"We have joined the efforts made by the Mayor's Office of Managua, to develop the sport, today we are celebrating the third anniversary of the academy, chess develops concentration and encourages creativity, we thank the Mayor's Office for including us in this celebration," Gutierrez said.
Chess players from León, Chinandega, Boaco, Rivas, Matagalpa, among others, competed in the categories: infantile, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18 and more.
