Municipality awards recognition to outstanding women athletes

Prior to the celebration of International Women's Day, the Managua Mayor's Office in coordination with the Nicaraguan Sports Institute and the Alexis Argüello Sports Movement, awarded recognitions to 12 outstanding women from the different sports disciplines, last Friday, March 3 in the Parque Las Madres Auditorium.

The tribute was made under the motto "Sports with Women's Strength" and was presided over by Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales, who said that it is a recognition of the work, dedication and effort of all those women who have done a great job in sport. and who have represented Nicaragua in international events.

"A dozen brilliant figures from the capital, who are being honored by the Good Government of our Commander Daniel and Compañera Rosario, through the Mayor's Office of Managua and the different sports academies, in this month of March, the month of International Day of Women”, said the mayor of the capital.

Armas, shared that, in this celebration, all retired sportswomen are also being recognized, who gave their best effort making history in the time they practiced the sport, such as Bertha Cuadra, an athlete with more than 40 years of experience in the discipline. of Volleyball and who is currently President of the National Volleyball Federation and Vice President of the Olympic Committee.

During the stimulus, the honorees were happy with the detail provided by the Good Government, as expressed by the athlete Lolette Eleonor Rodríguez, Beach and Indoor Volleyball athlete.

“I feel grateful for the recognition that women athletes are being given, for all the effort and sacrifice that is made to represent our country,” Rodríguez said.
