The Nicaraguan Basketball Team won the Central American tournament, at a perfect pace, thus making it to the next round of the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 Tournament Pre-Qualifier.
This tournament took place in the penultimate week of February at the Alexis Arguello Sports Center Latin American Basketball Cathedral, which once again made Managua the Capital of Central American Sports.
At the end of this tournament, Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales expressed that it was one of the happiest nights in the history of Nicaraguan sports, "one of the greatest nights of all time, for pinolero basketball, because we won the championship Central American basketball team and we qualified to continue in this great event of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).”
He also stated that winning the tournament undefeated, without being the Central American champion and advancing in a big tournament like this, is something to be applauded by all Nicaraguans.
After this stage, Nicaragua advances to the second phase of the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 Pre-Qualifiers, where they will face rivals from the Caribbean and South America, in June of this year.
