Leones Azules soccer academy advances to the minor league championship final

Demonstrating an impressive dominance on the field of play, in three games and different categories the Leones Azules men's soccer academy qualified in the quarterfinals of the national minor league championship.

The qualifying matches were held on February 11 at Cranshaw Stadium. Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales explained that the championship started 4 months ago and the last round of the championship will be played for a month and a half.

"This championship is proof of the enormous support that the Government of Commander Daniel gives to children's sports, here are Los Leoncitos from the U13, U15 and U17 playing to go to the semifinals, this tournament is a big event, there are 22 teams that they are participating,” said Armas.

With great effort, the Lions faced Chinandega, Jinotepe and Masaya, winning all the matches, managing to qualify in the categories: U13, U15 and U17.

Teams from Zelaya Central, Bluefields, Tipitapa, Río San Juan, Masaya, Jinotepe, Estelí, Chinandega and León, among others, participated in this championship.

Keneth Enrique Fletes Sotelo, captain of the U13 team, began practicing at the academy since he was 10 years old, he has been playing with Los Leones Azules for 3 seasons, he assures that they will continue practicing until they win the championship.

"We feel excited to have won, now we are going to the semifinals, we were nervous, but we managed to play well, make good passes and now we are going to practice for the other games," said Fletes.
