Remodeling works at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center

To guarantee sports infrastructures in optimal conditions, the Municipality is remodeling and beautifying the majestic Alexis Argüello Sports Center, as reported by Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales, on the morning of this Thursday, January 26, during a tour to supervise the works.

The capital official explained that the improvements consist of the construction of stairs to access the 4th floor of the building, construction of the main canopy, north and south side canopies, and installation of windows in the main access.

“Now it has a more beautiful, more spectacular image and it is due to the glass closure that has been made on the façade of our Alexis Argüello Sports Center, this was done for two reasons; to beautify the gym and of course to guarantee better conditions for the large number of international tournaments that are being held in Nicaragua every month, in the various sports disciplines,” said Armas.

He also shared that, due to the openness of the gym and the strong winds, technical recommendations were followed to close it and air-condition it, in this way the national and international basketball and volleyball tournaments will have no problems with the direction of the ball.

The sides will be completely closed and once air-conditioned, they will provide greater comfort, which also benefits the acoustic part, in terms of concerts with international artists, said the Vice Mayor.

In this Sports Center there will be 4 different floors, where sports academies such as ping pong and chess will work, which will be located in a closed area on the 4th floor.

Until today, the Alexis Argüello Sports Center has hosted major national and international events, has a construction area of 7,400 square meters and has a capacity to accommodate 8,500 fans indoors, which fosters the development of 11 disciplines. sports.
