



As part of the 2022 Youth Games, the Taekwondo Championship Final took place on the morning of this Sunday, November 13, with the participation of 240 athletes from the academies of the 7 districts of Managua.
This tournament began in April and had the participation of 32 Taekwondo academies and more than 700 athletes, between the ages of 14 and 29.
"We finished the Managua 2022 Youth Games with the discipline of Taekwondo, after almost 6 events in the year, we divided two groups in this discipline, in one district 1, 2 and 3 and in the other 4, 5, 6 and 7, today we reached the final, there are the champions of each category, we hope that this is how we finish all the disciplines that are 20 that participated on this occasion”, informed Noel González, Director of Sports of the Municipality.
González added that, by 2023, it is planned to open a new Taekwondo academy, where more than 400 children in that sector will benefit, classes are totally free in the 13 sports disciplines, with more than 37 academies in Managua.
During the final, 12 schools and 240 athletes were competing, where prizes were awarded to the first places in each category and gender; The event began at 8:00 in the morning and ended at 5:00 in the afternoon and was organized by the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua and the Nicaraguan Taekwondo Federation.
Taekwondo in Nicaragua is a sports discipline that has grown significantly in recent years, as a result of the support provided by the Sandinista Government to sports in its different disciplines; Currently this martial art has 68 academies nationwide and have provided good results in international competitions.
