More than 120 runners from districts VI and VII participated in the third athletics competition, organized by the Managua 2022 Youth Games on the track of the Nicaraguan Sports Institute (IND), on the morning of this Saturday, October 8.
The participants of this second competition fought from start to finish in the categories U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18 and U20, in 100, 200 and 400 meter dash.
"The categories begin in children from 6, 7 years old to 120 if they want, this is open to all athletes, to anyone who loves athletics, they are welcome here, a good initiative on the part of our government, the direction of sports of the Mayor's Office of Managua, which gives us this great gift to all Nicaraguans who want to be here in the academy, "said coach Auxiliadora Lacayo.
Andrea Castillo, a participating athlete, stated that she feels satisfied with this sport, "my preparation is strong, it has helped me a lot, thanks to my mom who is my coach, this competition seems super good for children to start training."
These competitions allow us to discover new promises of sport, capture them and train them in an integral way from a young age. The winners will compete with the other districts in the month of November.
