Managua and its municipalities participate in the Gastronomic Festival

From the Hugo Chávez Frías Park, located in the municipality of Mateare, diners, fritangas and entrepreneurs from all over Managua and its municipalities, participated in the Departmental Gastronomic Festival "Patria Bendita", on the morning of Saturday, October 8.

In this Gastronomic Festival, dishes with the different flavors of typical traditional food were exhibited, among them, tripe soup, chicken soup, nacatamales, vaho, vigorous, old Indian, bay horse, fish and roasts.

“The grand finale here in the beautiful municipality of Mateare, which today has the pleasant visit of delegations from Tipitapa, Managua, San Francisco Libre, El Crucero, Ticuantepe, San Rafael, who have brought the best of their gastronomy, to try to take the first places of this beautiful Nicaraguan popular gastronomy contest”, reported the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales.

The first place was obtained by Tipitapa, La Cuevita Restaurant, Nelson Hurtado Brizuela, from Casa Verde and representative of District II of Managua, took second place, with the roasted fish dish; third place was reached by San Rafael del Sur, with a spectacular beef soup.

“For me it is a pride to be representing Managua, we brought a traditional recipe, what happens has been lost, grilled fish, it is bought in the Oriental market, it has garlic, parsley, coriander, marinated with sour orange, delicious, thank you to the Mayor's Office that invited me to this contest, to rescue a tradition”, said the participant Nelson Hurtado.

During this event, the 153 municipalities of the country participate and it is organized at an inter-institutional level by the Municipality, INTUR, INIFOM, INATEC, Creative Economy and the INC. To represent Managua, the first place winner will compete in the national event, to be held on October 29, in the city of León.
