For more healthy recreation for the youth and families of the capital, this Saturday morning, October 08, on the courts of the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Flores park, the Mayor's Office of Citizen Power of Managua held a Basketball Tournament with all categories, from 6 up to 18 years of age, as part of the Managua 2022 Youth Games.
The Basketball Coordinator of the Municipality, Katia Contreras, reported that this competition is aimed at encouraging children and young people to practice sports and keep a busy mind, away from vices.
“47 teams from the U10, U12, female, youth and U18 categories are participating, today there was a day of 20 games, we are from 9 in the morning in the 6 fields of the Luis Alfonso park”, added Contreras.
Lorena López, a member of the commune's basketball academy, shared that practicing this sport is a good reason to get ahead, "I have loved basketball since I was little, I started about two and a half years ago, I like it too much because I can meet friends, it distracts me, it makes me forget about problems, if I'm stressed I practice it and it changes my mood, I look for ways to induce my friends to stay away from vices, we have better courts, thanks to the Managua Mayor's Office, it's very nice”, he added.
