During a meeting with the Sports Federations and Organizations of Districts I and IV, candidates from the Alianza FSLN Unida Nicaragua Triunfa from the municipality of Managua, presented the axes of work and lines of action to be carried out over the next five years.
“One of the axes for the healthy development of society is the promotion of sports and for the Sandinista Government it has been a priority since 2007. Following this orientation, the Managua Mayor's Office has so far 13 academies of different sports disciplines. and 37 sports schools, in the 7 districts of Managua, in which more than 2,400 children, youth and adolescents of the city are involved,” said Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales.
He explained that there are 12 Children's Baseball schools (one recently opened in the San Judas neighborhood), 3 Boxing schools, 4 soccer schools, 3 basketball schools, as well as indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, tennis, swimming, chess, Taekwondo, Judo and Skateboarding.
“These academies have already borne fruit in boxing, currently the youth of the 3 academies are the current champions of the Alexis Arguello cup; Likewise, we have won medals for champions and runners-up in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and baseball,” said Jimmy Toruño, representative of the academies of the Managua Mayor's Office.
Likewise, the Mayor Reyna Rueda Alvarado, expressed that the projection for the next five years is to continue on these routes of restitution of rights, through the construction of 2 multi-sports, the realization of 1,800 sports activities, 120 sporting events; as well as, improvement and construction of 315 community parks.
