Throughout 166 years, Nicaraguans have fought for the defense of national sovereignty as did the heroes of the Battle of San Jacinto and on the morning of this Friday, September 9, the Capital Commune, teachers and students of the Soldiers of the District V Cross, honored this feat by touring the replica of Casa Hacienda San Jacinto, located on Paseo Xolotlán.
“We are giving continuity to the celebrations of September, the month of the country with an educational, cultural and historical day in the replica of the Casa San Jacinto that the Mayor of Managua built in 2018, on the instructions of President Daniel and Compañera Rosario, so that Nicaraguan youth of all ages come to learn much more about the history of our country”, shared the Deputy Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales.
There were 50 students who participated in this tour in which they were also offered a talk on the history of the National War of 1856 and how the principles and negative elements of that war are still reflected in Nicaraguan and Central American society today. .
Clemente Guido, Director of Historical Heritage, highlighted that the replica of the Casa Hacienda serves as a didactic use for teaching history, "we have a distinguished group of young people from the neighborhoods of District V of Managua who are training in civics and patriotism and we hope that the rest of the national holidays these doors will be open to all Nicaraguans, some cannot travel to San Jacinto there in Tipitapa, then they can come to Managua, here there are some very well trained tour guides and excellent in his presentation”, affirmed the historian.
Sureshwary Jamookeeah Rodríguez, a student at the Soldado de la Cruz school, was very grateful for that educational day, "I find it very incredible to see and learn more about the history of Nicaragua and above all that they give us the correct explanation of what we are learning, because they give us details that we not only learn in school. The route is very nice, they told us that this is the same hacienda that is on Carretera Norte and I think all the history that they have reflected here in Managua is very beautiful, it is the first time that I visit the replica and I think it is nice”.
The facilities of the Hacienda San Jacinto replica will be open to the public to offer cycles of conferences on this great patriotic feat, the entrance is completely free and will be attended from Monday to Friday, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 a.m. night; Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
