Managua hosts the “Patria Bendita” Gastronomic Festival

From the Hugo Chávez Sports Complex, located in the 14 de Septiembre neighborhood, diners, fritangas and entrepreneurs from the 7 districts of Managua, participated in the Municipal Gastronomic Festival "Patria Bendita", on the morning of Saturday, September 3.

In this Gastronomic Festival, dishes with the different flavors of typical traditional food were exhibited, among them, tripe soup, chicken soup, nacatamales, vaho, vigorous, old Indian, bay horse, fish and roasts.

The culinary activity was attended by Mayor Reyna Rueda Alvarado and Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales, who presented awards and gifts to the participants; In addition to awarding the first 3 places in the contest with 5 thousand córdobas, 3 thousand córdobas and 2 thousand córdobas, respectively.

The competition had 14 exponents, 2 from each district, who demonstrated their gastronomic qualities with different recipes and dishes that made a tough decision for the qualifying jury, which was made up of authorities and guest chefs from the Hotel and Tourism Technology Center; who valued the taste, color and texture of the food with 50 points; 20 points for the presentation of the history and elaboration of the typical traditional recipe, 15 points for the presentation of the dish with traditional elements and 15 points for the decoration.

First place went to Nelson Hurtado Brisuela, from Casa Verde in District II, with the roasted fish dish; second place went to Isabel Zepeda, from District IV, with the traditional old Indian and third place went to Cristhian Fanny Bedfordn from District III, with the pork with yucca.

For the departmental contest to be held on Saturday, October 8, the first place winner will compete to represent Managua in the national event, to be held on October 29, in the city of León.

During this event, the 153 municipalities of the country participate and it is organized at an inter-institutional level by the Municipality, INTUR, INIFOM, INATEC, Creative Economy and the INC.
