Tribute to Lolita Soriano on the 21st anniversary of her passage to immortality

This Wednesday, August 31, the Mayor's Office of Managua paid tribute to the "Godmother of the Artists of Nicaragua", teacher and writer Lolita Soriano on the 21st anniversary of her passage to immortality, in the Illustrious Rotunda of the General Cemetery, in where a floral offering was placed and later the Municipal Band performed 4 musical compositions written by the artists of the time in honor of Soriano.

Clemente Guido, Director of Historical Heritage of the Commune explained that this tribute is already a tradition that promotes Good Government led by Commander Daniel and Vice President Rosario Murillo, to keep alive the memory and historical legacy of Soriano, who dedicated his life to the teaching and promotion of Nicaraguan art and culture.

“Today we are remembering Lolita Soriano in the year of her centenary of birth and on the 21st anniversary of having passed to immortality. The revolutionary government of Nicaragua through its municipalities and its cultural instances pays homage to keep alive the memory of our beloved Lola Soriano”, Guido said.

He also shared that in the next few days the municipal authorities will announce good news about Lolita's cultural assets, "Lola's legacy is not only her memory that we preserve, but all those documents that, together with Julián Guerrero, her husband, they produced the first monographs of the departments of Nicaragua, as well as their art collection, their library, which preserves an original book by Professor Ramírez Goyena, an IXX century book on Nicaraguan botany.”

Among the works carried out by the godmother of the artists is the foundation of the Lola Soriano Lyceum, the House of Art and Culture, an institution founded on March 12, 1939, with a prolific educational trajectory and whose motto is "For the Homeland and for the Homeland, teaching delighting children”.
