Managua launches Gastronomic Festival "Patria Bendita"

Promoting and rescuing the customs, traditions and exquisite Nicaraguan gastronomy, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua, held this Tuesday, August 30, the official launch of the "Patria Bendita" Gastronomic Festival, with the participation of all the districts of the capital.

This gastronomic event is organized at an inter-institutional level by the Municipality, INTUR, INIFOM, INATEC, Creative Economy and the INC. The contest will be this Saturday, September 3, starting at 10:00 in the morning in the parking lot of the Hugo Chávez Sports Complex in the 14 de Septiembre neighborhood, where the contestants will show their cooking skills and Nicaraguan recipes, they will be able to register for the district delegation offices.

“We want to invite all families in the municipality of Managua to participate in this great gastronomic event. On this occasion they can compete with beef soup, tripe, shellfish, tongue in sauce, nacatamal, repochetas, enchiladas, tacos, with very Nicaraguan foods,” said Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales.

He also shared that the Commune will give recognition to all the participants and a basic basket, and the first three places will be awarded 5,000, 3,000, and 2,000 cordobas, respectively. The winner of this first call will participate in the departmental contest of Managua, followed by the national one, who will compete with the best spoons.

“It is good for us that we have small businesses to promote our spoon, and now that we have the opportunity to sell at this event. I like to cook and we are going for the first place”, said Isabel Zepeda, participant.
