Prior to the celebration of the 2022 National Holidays, the municipal authorities and the honorable Council of Managua held a re-inauguration ceremony for the replica of Casa Hacienda San Jacinto, located on Paseo Xolotlán, with the aim of rescuing historical memory, promoting national identity and as part of the spaces that have been renovated by the Good Government in the coastal area of Lake Xolotlán, for the enjoyment of Nicaraguan families.
"This is a permanent tribute to the heroes of the Battle of San Jacinto, to the heroes of 1856, to our Andrés Castro and to all the patriots who defended Nicaragua against the filibusters, in that historic year," said the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Rose arms.
During his statements, the municipal official invited families to visit this museum, as well as colleges and universities to organize excursions with their students to learn more about this great feat.
He announced that the entrance is completely free and will be attended from Monday to Friday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 at night; Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 in the afternoon to 9:00 at night, "everyone is cordially invited from today," added Armas.
Clemente Guido, Director of Historical Heritage, stated that this replica is a very useful didactic resource, which the Municipality makes available to students and the entire people of Managua, where the interiors of this battle are disclosed.
“Practically today we are starting the National Holidays in Managua and I think this gives the initial flag for all of us to head towards that civic patriotic celebration, not only of the battle, but of all the historical moments that were experienced in 1855, 56 and 57 , until the expulsion of a filibuster, whose thought was absolutely slave, William Walker; this was a war against slavery and it was won,” shared Guido.
As part of the reopening act, those present enjoyed a play called "Lanza la Piedra Andrés", performed by the Cara y Sol group of the Leonel Rugama Cultural Movement and a tour of this museum, which has a construction area of 1,000 284 square meters and has three exhibition halls inside: the Hall of the Battle of San Jacinto, the Hall of the Heroes of the Battle and the Hall of Patriotic Symbols; In the external part there are three monuments, among them, José Dolores Estrada, Andrés Castro and a monument to the Flecheros Indians, as well as a model where all the components of the original hacienda can be seen.
