Artistic Gala "Pride of My Municipality" in tribute to Irene López and Óscar Noel Martínez

In the Plaza de la Soberanía, authorities from the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua attended the "Pride of My Municipality" Artistic Gala on the night of this Friday, August 12, 2022, held by the Directorate of Culture in tribute to Irene López , folklorist and teacher of teachers and Óscar Noel Martínez, director and founder of the Marimba Flor de Pino.

"We are really full of a lot of National Pride, celebrating our culture, tradition, heritage, through each of these concerts in tribute to our artists and today we have a luxury concert, where we will be enjoying folk groups such as Macehuatl, Tepenahuatl and the Haydée Palacios Folkloric Ballet”, said Mayor Reyna Rueda Alvarado.

Likewise, Rueda shared that the teacher Irene López began when in Nicaragua the national folklore was not even known or was considered as something suitable only to be danced at popular festivals. His first group of dancers was made up of young children who later became virtuous representatives of the country in international events in Central America and also toured all of Nicaragua”.

"I feel the best of my life, it is this wonderful day for my Nicaragua Linda, like a queen who has discovered a treasure, thank you for giving me this opportunity to address my people," said Doña Irene.

Óscar Noel Martínez, director of the Flor de Pino Marimba, assured that he keeps his father's legacy alive, with the essence that characterizes them, responsibility and love for Nicaraguan roots through marimba.

"A great pride for Flor de Pino, may my father rest in peace, who left a legacy of 47 years, accompanying the different folklore ballets in Nicaragua and other countries, thank you because we have always had the support of the government."
