Once again, the courts of the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Flores park were the setting for the second Indoor Volleyball Tournament, as part of the Managua 2022 Youth Games program, in its second edition.
This sporting event was held on the afternoon of this Saturday, August 06, and brought together 8 female youth teams and 6 male youth teams, for a total of 128 players (96 women and 48 men).
Milton Aguirre, assistant coach of the Volleyball Academy of the Municipality, announced the progress made by the players of the Las Leonas team, "today two teams that entered the 2022 Youth Games are playing, there are some that are smaller and the others who are juveniles, both have a good level, the girls have gained a lot of experience, with a view to moving up in the Lionesses franchise, that is the goal of each of these girls, they are raising their level of play and sports experience ”, expressed Aguirre.
The matches began on May 14 and will continue for 4 continuous months, every Saturday at 3:00 in the afternoon and will be held on the volleyball courts of the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Flores park.
“I am part of the Lionesses Club in the Youth Games, my experience has been quite great, I have grown as a person and as a player, I thank the academy for having taught me so much and giving me this opportunity, said the player María Gabriela Coca .
Britanny Hodgson, also a player for the Las Leonas Juveniles team, shared that this sport has helped her a lot with her physical condition and as a form of recreation.
For men's training, attention is given on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 4:00 in the afternoon. Women's training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 in the afternoon and on Saturdays from 8:00 to 10:00 in the morning.
The Municipality has an Indoor Volleyball Academy, to train children between the ages of 6 and 17 in this sports discipline, it is completely free, they only have to present their birth certificate, on the volleyball courts of Luis Alfonso Park.
