Children and young people from District II show their talent in a municipal drawing contest

As part of the activities in celebration of the Traditional Festivities of the People of Managua, the Municipality, in coordination with the Ministry of Education (MINED) and the Leonel Rugama Cultural Movement, held the Armando Morales In Memoriam Drawing Contest.

This is a municipal contest that takes place in the 7 Districts of Managua, with the participation of boys, girls, adolescents and young people, between 9 and 19 years old, divided into three categories according to age, reported the Secretary of the Managua Council Jennifer Porras Lopez.

“Following up this countless activities that we have scheduled during the month of August, in homage to the Traditional Festivals of Managua, with different singing, dancing, painting contests, with the aim of promoting the creativity of children and young people” Porras said.

The award ceremony for this contest will be on Friday, August 12, and the first place works in each category and for each District will be distinguished, that is, there will be 21 winners in this contest.

Master Armando Morales (RIP), was a Nicaraguan painter who has been recognized with the Ernest Wolf Award as the "Best Latin American Artist", who has shown his work internationally in different art galleries such as the Claude Bernard Gallery in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art of Mexico or the Belcher Gallery of San Francisco. In Nicaragua he is considered a relevant figure in the plastic arts.
