Santo Domingo de Guzmán is already in the capital

From early hours, this first of August, the Patron Saint of Managua, Santo Domingo de Guzmán, descended from Las Sierritas, accompanied by thousands of parishioners who with joy, faith and devotion made their prayers and followed the path of the tiny image until it reached its dwelling in the old center of the city, where he will remain for 10 days.

During its journey, the sound of gunpowder explosion, the large entourage of colorful characters and traditionalist committees, announced the arrival of the revered image that is celebrated as the most popular festival in Nicaragua.

“Families have overflowed with a lot of tradition, with a lot of color, with a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of faith and tranquility. The Mayor's Office of Managua, together with all the institutions, has devoted itself to the attention of families in different activities in homage to the Managua Festivities," said Mayor Reyna Rueda Alvarado, who joined thousands of promisers from Santo Domingo in the sector. known as La Morita, on the Carretera a Masaya, to celebrate the miraculous image.

In this great festivity to the Patron Saint of Managua, the promisers, traditionalists and devotees were seen dressed in colorful folkloric costumes, painted black and some carrying replicas of the image of Minguito, always dancing to the rhythm of the philharmonics.

“We grew up watching these popular festivals, these Managua festivals and we see that people from abroad and from the departments have attended. All of this is part of the joy of living in peace and the rescue of our traditions and our faith,” recalled Rueda.

The image will be in the capital until August 10, as part of the Traditional Festivals of Managua 2022.
