Capital authorities supervise work carried out in areas affected by the rains

In order to provide support to families and protect their lives during the rainy season, the authorities of the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua, carried out this Saturday morning, May 21, an evaluation tour of the works that are being carried out in different sectors of the capital, affected by Tropical Wave No. 1 and as part of the Winter 2022 Plan.

The visit was accompanied by the Mayoress of Managua, Compañera Reyna Rueda Alvarado, and the Secretary General, Compañero Fidel Moreno Briones, who toured the Oriental channel in the Dorado sector, in the Caimana zone in the Oriental market, the La Primavera channel and in the Lomas de Guadalupe neighborhood.

The General Secretary of the Commune informed that the Caimana sector of District IV of the capital is working on the pluvial drainage that is more than 50 years old, due to the fact that with the recent rains, it presented damages.

“We managed to verify a collapse of the main street in the electrical appliance sector, we have had this in different parts of the Eastern market, this time we are going to attend to about 100 meters, the safest thing is to replace the entire pipe with a concrete one, for the safety of families,” Moreno said.

He added that as every year the cleaning of the drainage is essential, the Municipality began the Winter Plan in February and concluded the first stage at the end of April, but with the arrival of the rains the work is redoubled.

During the evaluation, the authorities confirmed that tours of the works in progress are permanently carried out and at this time, in the construction of a wall that collapsed in the La Libertad school, located in the Lomas de Guadalupe neighborhood of District VII.

“There are 122 works that we are carrying out in the different districts, with an investment of more than 188 million córdobas only in drainage, the call to the population is to keep our environment, our municipality, clean, cleaning guarantees health and we are going to proceed to repair the 6 houses that were damaged by the fall of this wall”.

Rueda affirmed that the Disaster Prevention, Mitigation and Attention System has already been activated throughout the department of Managua, guided by the Good Government of Commander Daniel and Compañera Rosario Murillo, to give families security.
