More than 150 young people from different schools and dance academies participated in a spectacular artistic gala in celebration of National Dignity Day, this Wednesday, May 4, at the Comandante Tomás Borge Martínez amphitheater.
This commemoration was presided over by comrade Jennifer Porras López, Secretary of the Managua Council, who stated that this cultural event was held in homage to May 4, the day on which the General of Free Men and Women Augusto C. Sandino, in 1927, rejected the Espino Negro Pact and opposed the establishment of military, political and economic interventionism by the US government.
He shared that the cultural day was developed with the participation of the National School of Dance of the Institute of Culture and 3 invited groups from the municipalities of Masaya and Managua, who through their artistic expressions honored the historical and heroic deed of the General of men and free women, who upheld the dignity and sovereignty of the Nicaraguan people.
During the event, the recognition as Human Treasure of Nicaraguan Art and Culture was given to the artists Juan Luis Palomo and Cleopatra Amira Morales, who have stood out for their contributions to the development and promotion of dance in the country.
