Tribute to Professor Josefa Toledo de Aguerri

In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the passage to another plane of life of the teacher Josefa Toledo de Aguerri, the Mayor's Office of Managua and the Ministry of Education placed floral offerings and honors in the general cemetery where the remains of this outstanding feminist, writer and Nicaraguan pedagogue.

The honors were given by the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, who highlighted her life and work, "one of the five graduate teachers of the 19th century and who received the Woman of the Americas award, the fundamental part is the heritage in the fight for the human rights of women, which we continue to promote and strengthen as part of the Good Government policies, Doña Chepita is an example to follow, she is an inspiration for all women”.

Clemente Guido Martínez, Director of Historical Heritage of the Municipality, highlighted that thanks to this struggle, today the rights of women are more than restored in different works and concrete facts, laws of the Republic of Nicaragua under the current government.

Josefa Toledo de Aguerri was born in Juigalpa and lived a large part of her life in Managua, a city where she was educated intellectually and for which she wrote a play called Colloquio a Managua.
