Managua 2022 Youth Games start

On Friday, April 22, the Managua 2022 Youth Games were inaugurated, a sporting event in which more than 100,000 young people of both sexes, between the ages of 14 and 29, will participate, who will compete in 20 sports disciplines.

The activity was chaired by the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, who highlighted the support provided by the Sandinista Government to the practice of sport, in coordination with the different federations and the 11 academies of the Municipality.

He shared that the Youth Games are a pioneering platform that contributes to the promotion of young talent in the capital city, expanding the pool of athletes and forming new stars; which guarantees entertainment, fun and integration opportunities for young people.

This event will last 8 months, ending in December and will be held in the modern sports facilities built by the Sandinista Government in recent years, where the first 3 places in each competition will be awarded, by gender and discipline.

During the opening ceremony, the young people from the 20 participating disciplines staged a parade full of enthusiasm and emotion, with the presentation of Santi, the representative mascot of these games, who symbolizes tenacity, passion and youthful energy.
