Great euphoria was experienced at the Sports Center Spain during the final of the First Division Women's Volleyball, where the Lionesses of the Mayor's Office of Managua for the second time and consecutively, were crowned two-time champions of this tournament, beating the Panthers team in the three sets of games, obtaining as a result (25-14, 25-19, 25-20).
The Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, presented the medals and trophies to the two-time champions, the Lionesses of the Mayor's Office of Managua, and in the same way, to the Panthers, who reached the runner-up position in this second edition.
“It really is exciting, you can see the energy, the dynamism that is breathed here, all the families supporting, that is the beauty, we have to thank God for the joy of living in peace in our country, we see the results of the strengthening of sport through through the strategies of the Good Government in all the neighborhoods and at the national level, there is unconditional support for sport, we see the quality, high level of volleyball that was played here and the one that we have been promoting and well, the Leonas de Managua, they retain the title once again”, highlighted the mayor of the capital.
Lolette Rodríguez, captain of the Las Leonas team and who received the trophy from the municipal authorities, expressed her great emotion for the title obtained, “I am happy with the result, it was a difficult championship, we came from less to more and I think that It is what makes the result more gratifying, we are very happy to have left everything on the field, I thank the Mayor of Managua for having trusted us”.
This tournament lasted three months and 7 teams from all over the country participated, with the presence of more than 90 female athletes, among them, a new litter of relay in this sports discipline, with players under 17 years old born in the year 2005.
The Municipality, through the Sports Directorate, is preparing to hold a men's volleyball league that will begin this coming June.
