Chess Academy commemorates its first anniversary

On the afternoon of this Friday, April 1, the Municipality held a chess tournament in honor of the first anniversary of the Academy of this discipline, at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.

During the event, the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales, shared that this academy is open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and has outstanding instructors who have represented the country nationally and internationally. , classes are totally free and registration is still open.

"It is a chess academy for children and young people of all ages, we already have more than 50 who come to receive classes here and who have formed one of the strongest chess teams in the history of Nicaragua," said Armas.

He stressed that these chess players have participated in 5 tournaments this year and have won them. On this anniversary they were attended by special guests, including players from Boaco.

Among the active athletes is the two-time youth national champion instructor and member of the national team, Nahúm Espinoza, who in October this year will represent the municipal academy and the country in the Chess Olympiad to be held in India.

Also, with the current National School Champion Codicader Nathanael Vanegas, who is undoubtedly the best school athlete in the country and will participate in the World Cup in Malta.

"I think the initiative that is being carried out is excellent, because it promotes sports, which is important at an educational and intellectual level," said Nexar Barrios, a participant in this tournament.
