As part of the promotion of sports, recreation and healthy recreation for families and in commemoration of International Women's Day, the Mayor's Office of Pueblo Presidente held a women's baseball meeting, with mothers and sisters of child baseball players from the Academies of Municipal Baseball.
In this friendly meeting, the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales, announced that more than 30 women participated to commemorate this date.
"Today we wanted to celebrate this women's day, but with all of you coming down from the stands where you are always supporting your children, to the field of play to hold a friendly softball game," said Armas.
The participants expressed the enthusiasm of being the protagonists of this game, "we are going to try to give our best, we are new to this and have a good time," said one of the mothers of the children of the Shirley Flores academies.
Since 2007, with the support of the Good Government, sport has grown in its different disciplines and the inclusion of both genders, following one of its guidelines to incorporate women in all facets; something that has been recognized internationally where Nicaragua appears in the first places in gender equality.
