




The Government of the People President inaugurated this Tuesday, March 8, International Women's Day, 8 new blocks of paved streets in the Enrique Smith neighborhood of District VII, which are part of the Streets for the People Program, which began in 2009 , with the clear commitment to improve the living conditions of Nicaraguan families.
“We are honored that today, March 8, we can commemorate women with great joy by giving these recarpeting blocks to the families of this sector, with an investment of 5 million 500 thousand córdobas that bring health, well-being and prosperity,” reported the Comrade Jennifer Porras, Secretary of the Council of Managua.
The capital official highlighted that in the Enrique Smith neighborhood, since 2009 several projects have been carried out, in which an amount of 11 million 800 thousand córdobas has been invested, in road and storm drainage improvement works, as well as the delivery of 6 solidarity homes.
He also announced that a road mitigation and improvement work is being carried out in this neighborhood, which consists of the construction of a bridge box that will join the Enrique Smith and Germán Pomares neighborhoods, guaranteeing a new access road and reducing the vulnerability of families. that inhabit the slopes of the channel. This work is part of the 77 projects of the Winter 2022 Plan.
"It is a benefit for all of us and for the elderly who had difficulty, today I can walk well with my mother and I thank God and our Good Government for this work," said resident Lucrecia Suárez.
Don Antonio Mairena also joined the celebration of the streets and said that before they were a disaster, not even the vehicles wanted to enter, "progress has come to our neighborhood, now I can walk without worrying that I might trip over a stone."
