With the participation of 20 teams from different municipalities of Nicaragua, the seventh edition of the Superior Men's Basketball Tournament "Carlos Ulloa in Memoriam" began this Saturday night, February 5, in the cathedral of this sports discipline, the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.
The Brumas de Jinotega are the defending champions of the Carlos Ulloa Tournament, after beating the Leones de la Alcaldía de Managua in the 2021 final and for this edition of the tournament they will have as title challengers the teams from the capital, Real Estelí Basket, Tigres from Chinandega, Bonanza, Águilas de Matagalpa, San Isidro, Mineros, Frente Sur Rivas, Masatepe, Jaguares de la UAM, the latter, a new debutant team in this national championship.
The Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales, shared that Carlos Ulloa is the tournament with the largest number of participating teams in Nicaragua, which once again will last three months and will be played in more than 10 venues, such as on the field of the Libertad, León, Matagalpa, San Isidro, Chichigalpa, Masatepe, Luis Alfonso Velásquez and the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.
“For the second time in a row, 20 teams participate in the Carlos Ulloa in Memoriam Tournament, with 60 new players under 17 years of age integrated into the different teams, it is a tournament whose first fruits have already been seen, with some players who were in the Superior Basketball League who are now in the different teams of this championship”.
The final of the tournament is scheduled for the month of May, the games will be broadcast online on the official website of the tournament and the results will also be published immediately.
