On the morning of this Saturday, February 5, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua, through the Directorate of Historical Heritage, inaugurated the 1st Symposium on History of Managua "Bayardo Cuadra in Memoriam", in celebration of the 170th anniversary of the appointment of Managua, as Capital of the Republic of Nicaragua and in tribute to Don Bayardo, journalist, historian and notable citizen of the city, who died on February 12, 2021.
This inauguration was also held in celebration of the 106th anniversary of the passage to immortality of the universal poet of the centuries Rubén Darío, who died on February 6, 1916 in the city of León, as stated by the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado.
“We as Managuans have a lot to tell, not only at the national level, but also at the international level, all the transformations that we have had in our Capital, thanks to the political will of our Good Government wisely led by Commander Daniel and our Vice President Compañera Rosario, we are very proud to be a part of it and opening this I Symposium on the History of Managua has been an arduous job of communication, especially compiling that information and history of the founders of Managua”, added Rueda.
Clemente Guido Martínez, Director of Historical Heritage of the Municipality, made the presentation of the inaugural conference of the I History Symposium of Managua 2022, "Managua, a Capital with Heroic History" and announced that this I Symposium will be fully held on Saturday 12 February, in the Rubén Darío auditorium of the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua.
The event was attended by municipal authorities and members of the Managua Council, members of the Sandinista Caucus of the National Assembly, delegations from the Nicaraguan Institute of Hispanic Culture (INCH), the Academy of Geography and History of Nicaragua (AGHN), the Association National Educators of Nicaragua (ANDEN), members of the literary circle of the elderly (CLAN), representatives of Nicaraguan universities and delegates of the Nicaraguan Institute of Culture (INC).
As part of the activity, the municipal choir "Carlos Fonseca" performed the musical themes: Corrido a Managua, Managua Nicaragua where I fell in love, Cara al sol, among others.
