With the presentation of different dishes of the Christmas season, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua in coordination with the Municipal Market Corporation of Managua (COMMEMA), held this Saturday, November 20, the competition of the Gastronomic Festival "Flavors of December", with the participation of the 8 markets and 7 districts of the capital.
“This is an activity directed by Commander Daniel and Compañera Rosario to continue promoting Nicaraguan gastronomy and we have a very special gastronomy and the compañeras who have businesses in the markets are the ones who most dominate our culinary traditions”, The Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales, referred.
He also announced that the Municipality will reward the first three places in the contest, who will be awarded 3,000 cordobas for first place, 2,000 for second and 1,000 cordobas for third place.
The first place winner was Mrs. Leonarda Miranda from the Israel Lewites Market who prepared a delicious inchida chicken. Second place went to the Roberto Huembes market, Doña Grethel Suazo, she prepared a stuffed hen. Third place was won by the Mayoreo market, Cristina Sánchez with a stuffed loin.
"I feel very good about having won and being part of this event promoted by the government, my recipe is an inchida chicken stuffed with vegetables such as chilote, carrot, chayote, the preparation time is 6 hours and I am happy to represent the markets in the municipal contest”, said the winner of the first place.
The qualifying jury was attended by experts from the Escuela de Hotelería del Tecnológico Nacional who evaluated the taste, decoration and texture of each of the dishes in competition and the winner will represent the capital in the final of the Gastronomic Festival to be held in Ocotal.
