Closure of the school chess tournament at the Youth Games

On the afternoon of this Tuesday, October 26, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua concluded the Managua 2021 Youth Games in the chess modality, with the participation of technical students, high school students and the Municipal Chess Academy.

The Sports Director of the Commune, Noel González, highlighted that this sporting event lasted three months and was attended by 45 young chess players from the ALMA Academies, the Ministry of Education (MINED) and the National Technological Institute (INATEC). ), managing to reach the final 10 couples.

He stressed that during these tournaments, the boys demonstrated all their skills in this science sport, “from here we are going to take out the champions of these first games and above all it will drive us so that next year we continue to advance with the massification of these disciplines sports and that we can incorporate other institutions to participate in these Youth Games”.

He reported that in this final the first three places were chosen, who will be the first champions of the Managua 2021 Youth Games.

Fidel Granados Ortiz was the first place winner, Brandon Isaac García Guevara got second place and third place went to Néstor Brain Mayorga Torrez, all members of the ALMA Chess Academy, who received their medals and trophies.

"Next year we hope to add a little more sports disciplines, there are 20 that participated this year and we hope by 2022, to reach 25 disciplines and also bring more than 200 thousand young people to the Managua level."

Brandon García, has been a chess player for a year and in this school tournament he won second place, he said he is very happy with the results in this competition and every day he puts more effort to continue giving the best in this sport.

“This sport seemed interesting to me, because it was something that encouraged me to think and calculate my movements more, it is a sport that teaches you that every action has its consequence, I played online, until I met those from the Managua Mayor’s Office and got a place to practice and develop my skills with people who wanted the same thing as me, to improve, from that, I got to meet many incredible people in this discipline, I have played against national champions already, clearly I have not beaten them, but I It has helped us grow in this sport.”
