Managua participates in the III Multi-Threat Drill of 2021

The population of the different neighborhoods and communities of the municipality of Managua participated this Thursday, September 23, in the Third National Exercise of Preparation and Protection of Life against Multi-Threats.

This national exercise began simultaneously at 10:00 in the morning, at which time the teachers of the schools evacuated their students to safe places, even in work centers and neighborhoods throughout the national territory.

In the Jorge Dimitrov neighborhood of District I of Managua, there were 3 disaster scenarios, one caused by an earthquake of 6.9 on the Richter scale, the other by floods caused by the rains and the third by the fall of a tree on a house ; In all of them there were 3 people to be rescued and the families organized in the disaster response brigades carried out the evacuation and care work for the affected people.

The residents of this sector were enthusiastic about the drill, which allows them to know what to do in the event of a disaster, as expressed by Doña Rosa Linares, who said that these exercises contribute to being prepared for any eventuality.

During the preparation in the Rigoberto López Pérez neighborhood of District I, Ms. Claudia Herrera, Executive Secretary of the Coordination Center for Disaster Prevention in Central America and the Dominican Republic (CEPREDENAC) was present, who expressed seeing the participation with great positivism. of the inhabitants and stressed that Nicaragua is an example at the regional level, because it is the only country that develops this type of exercises with the permanent participation of the community.
