Mayor's Office pays tribute to national heroes

Kicking off the month of national pride, the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, the Vice Mayor Enrique Armas Rosales and the Honorable Council, visited the Casa Hacienda San Jacinto to honor the heroic deed and the memory of the protagonists of this great battle, in its 165th anniversary of the triumph in defense of the sovereignty of the country, before the invasion orchestrated by William Walker and the filibusters in 1856.

The municipal authorities placed a wreath on the monuments of the heroes, to honor with dignity the heroic deed of General José Dolores Estrada, Andrés Castro and the arrowroot Indians of Matagalpa.

"With your chest held high, full of pride to be Nicaraguans, that's how national holidays should be celebrated," were the words of Mayor Rueda.

He once again highlighted the support of the people for the strategies and programs of the government of Commander Daniel and Vice President Compañera Rosario Murillo, which aim to achieve the independence of the Nicaraguan people.

During the visit, different institutions of the country were also present to pay tribute to the national heroes.
