As part of the support for sport in its different disciplines and within the framework of the Managua 2021 Youth Games, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua developed a chess championship in which more than 40 athletes from all over the municipality participated, between the ages of 9 to 18 years.
The tournament was inaugurated by the Vice Mayor of Managua, Enrique Armas Rosales, who said that this is one of the sports disciplines that were pending within the Youth Games, a tournament that began in April and is expected to end next November.
Likewise, he highlighted the determined support that the Good Government is providing to the practice of chess, which is why the Ministry of Education is promoting it from all primary and secondary schools.
The young Antonio José Rodríguez, was very happy with this tournament and said that chess is very important for the mental development of the person.
The Youth Games are a sports platform to promote entertainment, fun and opportunities for the integration of young people in all the territories of our Capital; Furthermore, it is a precursor element for the promotion of young talent in the city, thus contributing to the birth of new sports stars.
