Palo Lucio celebration reaches 46 years of tradition

Hundreds of devotees from Santo Domingo de Guzmán participated this July 31 in the traditional Palo Lucio festival, organized for 46 years with faith and devotion by the traditionalist José María Barahona, known as “Chema Pelón”.

The Cristo Rey roundabout was the setting for this celebration, which was attended by comrade Reyna Rueda Alvarado, Mayor of Managua, who highlighted the support provided by the municipalities to rescue our culture and traditions.

For his part, Eduardo Barahona "Chemita Junior" said that this year the activity would be carried out in less time and in a symbolic way, but with the same devotion of its participants, he also added that this August 1st, they would distribute food to the devotees del Santo, as part of the promise of the traditionalist.

Don Chema Pelón was the creator of the Palo Lucio tradition, an activity that fills with joy and fun the devotees who gather in this sector on the eve of the descent and ascent of the tiny image.
