Municipal Reforestation Plan for the Urban Zone of Managua begins

In greeting to the International Day of Soil Conservation, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua launched the Municipal Reforestation Plan in the Urban Areas of Managua, through which it is expected to plant 7,925 forest trees.

This reforestation will be carried out in the next 5 months taking advantage of the winter, mainly in the urban area of Managua, focusing on the urban forest, the boulevards of the main roads, urbanizations of social interest, illegal dumps and in the San Isidro Libertador region.

The Reforestation Plan was presented on the Larreynaga Track, in the section of the El Borbollón riverbed; activity that was chaired by the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, who announced that, on this opening day, 135 trees will be planted on the green area of said road, with the support of young people from the Guardabarranco Environmentalist movement, as well as, UPOLI and UNAN-Managua students.

Likewise, the mayor of the capital announced that this plan will include 16 reforestation days, through which trees will be planted in 8 capital schools, on the UNAN-Managua university field, in 4 illegal dumps to eradicate them, in the Ciudad Belén sports field, on farms that are the protagonists of the Environmental Bonus Program in the San Isidro Libertador region and on 22 kilometers of boulevards spread over 14 sections of main roads.    

The implementation of this Reforestation Plan, aims to increase the green areas of the municipality, replace trees affected by time and sensitize the population about the importance of caring for Mother Earth.
