Government and municipal authorities inaugurate road improvement project in Sabana Grande

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in conjunction with the Mayor's Office of Citizen Power of Managua and families from the capital, inaugurated this Thursday, May 27, the new section of the Sabana Grande-El Pique highway. The road improvement project benefits 105,537 inhabitants of the area.

The new 2-kilometer road will allow access to the Capital of 4,342 vehicles per day, coming from the north and center of the country.

The Minister of Transportation and General in Retiro Oscar Mojica, explained that the new work also includes mitigation works, which further guarantees a safe vehicular and pedestrian circulation, as well as the benefit to the families that live around the highway.

“In addition, of the 2 kilometers of road the work includes a formidable bridge, the Villa Sol bridge, of 32 linear meters, culverts, reinforced concrete bridge boxes, gutters and road safety works, which are vital for the population, such as cycle paths, platforms. We can say that, here in metropolitan Managua, 15 large road infrastructure projects have been built, with 211 kilometers of road that allow fluid traffic in all directions, ”Mojica reported.

Likewise, he announced that in addition to that, 1,180 meters of pedestrian platforms, 1,290 meters of cycle track 2 meters wide, were built to guarantee the safety of pedestrians. In parallel, environmental mitigation works and rain drainage works were carried out, the project lasted 10 months and generated 104 jobs during its execution.

For her part, the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, emphasized that the will of the government continues to be shown in each of the works that, in addition to improving the quality of life of families, provides security against possible eventualities caused by nature. . 

"Today we celebrate the connectivity that we continue to have in our municipality of Managua, in our department, through this work, it is a dream come true, eliminating critical points, saving families from losing their lives in those places," said Rueda.

The residents of the sector report that before the recently inaugurated work, that access road was nothing more than a deteriorated road, which in the winter period became a mud, avoiding vehicular and pedestrian traffic. 

“Here we walked in some mud flats in the winter and in the summer some polvazales, if the children got sick it was a dream that a taxi came in, except for an ambulance, this is a dream come true for all of us, there are neighbors who dreamed these streets and they could not see them, only the Commander's government could make our dream come true ”.
