With the aim of raising awareness in the care and preservation of the water resources of the capital, the Mayor's Office of the Citizen Power of Managua carried out on the morning of this Saturday, April 24, the third day of cleaning in the Natural Reserve of the Laguna de Tiscapa , in commemoration of World Mother Earth Day.
This is the day number 3 of 12 that will be held this year and was chaired by the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda Alvarado, with the participation of 60 members of the ecological squad of the Nicaraguan Army, more than 200 young people from the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (UPOLI), the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua), the Municipal Environmental Management Directorate, the Sandinista Youth and workers from the different State institutions.
“We make this effort permanently. We have 12 days in the year of cleaning our water mirrors and we thank all the institutions that have joined, I believe that we human beings must understand and internalize that we must conserve our environment, our common home ", said the Mayor Reyna Rueda.
Also, the mayor of the capital stated that it is vitally important that there is a balance between human beings and nature, "as a Municipality we aspire to maintain that active environment," he said.
Rueda also reported that, in addition to cleaning, the only fence that will help to collect the waste that falls into the lagoon was placed in this water mirror.
