Storm drainage work in District II is progressing 85 percent

On the morning of this Tuesday, April 20, comrade Fidel Moreno, Secretary General of the Mayor's Office of Managua, supervised the storm drainage project in the Batahola Sur neighborhood, one of the most important works to be carried out this year and that will eliminate impacts in 5 neighborhoods of this sector of the Capital.

This rainwater drainage work will intercept and capture the 40% from the waters that have flowed over the streets of Batahola Norte and 35 Avenida Oeste for years, reducing the chances of flooding in 5 neighborhoods of this district, including Batahola Norte, Miraflores and Rafael Ángel Ríos; in addition to the gutter that is parallel to the Carretera Sur.

Moreno, informed that this work of the Common Good has an advance of 85%, with an investment of 6.5 million córdobas, because in addition to the rainwater drainage project, works are being carried out on Streets for the People, as well as water and sanitation.

Likewise, the Secretary of the Capital Commune, commented that according to the specialists, the winter will be established in about 4 or 5 weeks, “however, these rains already envision the need to advance in the preparations of the winter plan, until the day of Today we have a preview of the 80% of everything that is the winter plan, referring to the cleaning and development of works, we estimate that in about two weeks we will be completing the cleaning and we continue to advance in the development of the works. We have 85 projects related to drainage in the city of Managua and they are also progressing well and this is one of the most important and not because of the amount, but because of the impact it will have on the lives of the Managuas and particularly on the lives of the inhabitants of this sector ”, expressed Moreno.

For her part, Ana Martínez, a resident of this neighborhood, stressed that it is a very good work for the residents of this neighborhood, "here it was flooded a lot and with this project the situation will be different, we are all grateful because it will help us in a great way" commented the protagonist.

This project is expected to conclude in the next 3 or maximum 4 weeks, directly benefiting 7,500 people and indirectly surpassing the 10,000 people who live in this area.
