The Lionesses of Managua are the defending champions of the tournament, after defeating the Tipitapa team in the 2020 final and for this edition of the championship they will have as challengers to the title teams such as the American University (UAM), Agrarian University (UNA), Raptors, No Fear, Eagles, the Nicaraguan U-17 basketball team and the JASS team.
"We are very happy to inaugurate this women's basketball tournament with the participation of 9 teams, the female presence is felt in this championship," commented colleague Reyna Rueda Alvarado, Mayor of Managua.
Each team has 2 minor players, born in 2004, in each game that will be held in the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Park or Alexis Argüello Sports Center, a minor player must be on the court, if the team does not have one at the time of the game. minor member, automatically loses the match, this is part of the formation from the smallest to the largest.
Likewise, only two of the high performance team can be on the court at the time of the game, if the teams at the time of the game have 3 class A players (professionals) on the court, they also lose the game.
"This tournament seems good to me, because it helps us grow as a professional and learn this marvel of sport, as well as becoming an Academy of the Mayor of Managua with other experienced players," said Jeymi Barbosa, a member of the ALMA Academy team.
The Basketball Tournament will last for three months and will be played at the Luis Alfonso Velásquez Flores Park and at the Alexis Argüello Sports Center.
